Do not use Cymbalta together with thioridazine (Mellaril), or an MAO inhibitor such as furazolidone (Furoxone), isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam, Zelapar), or tranylcypromine (Parnate). A dangerous drug interaction could occur, leading to serious side effects.

The FDA has advised patients who have received this device to seek medical attention immediately if abdominal pain, fever, tenderness at the implant site or other unusual symptoms occur.

Bevacizumab is approved for various forms of cancer, but physicians also have prescribed it on an off-label basis for wet AMD, which is the leading cause of legal blindness, because the drug blocks blood vessel growth. Genentech makes a similar drug called ranibizumab (Lucentis) that is approved for wet AMD, but clinicians typically resort to bevacizumab instead because it costs $50 per dose compared with $2000 for a dose of ranibizumab.

Since 2008, the FDA has issued two safety alerts regarding transvaginal mesh complications. On Oct. 20, 2008, the FDA warned that between 2005 and 2007, more than 1,000 people had reported experiencing problems with mesh made by at least nine different manufacturers. The most frequent complications included erosion, infection, pain, urinary problems, and recurrence of prolapse and/or incontinence.
