Mark Pearson-Gills was born and raised in the suburbs southeast of Melbourne. He was educated there as well, and after finishing his secondary education in 1988, he took on an internship with a carpenter, working for him a couple of years in order to figure out what it was he wanted to do for a living. He eventually applied to RMIT University's chiropractic program, and graduated in 1996.
