The first generation of blockchain, such as Bitcoin, was introduced to improve financial systems through a decentralised monetary platform that enabled peer-to-peer transactions. Meanwhile, second-generation blockchain projects enabled developers to create and launch decentralised applications. Both generation projects, however, have some limitations, including scalability and interoperability.
