Colon polyps, also known as colorectal polyps, are small, commonly benign growths of tissue that form on the lining of the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine, which is a long, hollow tube at the bottom of the digestive tract. Polyps may be a common occurrence and even increasingly so with progressing age. In most cases, these polyps could be harmless but over time they can turn cancerous, and can be fatal, if found in its later stages.
