Unistrut channel
Basic Unistrut channels come in 1 5/8 by 1 5/8 inch square cross section. There is also a half height cross section version available (1 5/8 inch wide, 13/16 inch tall). This version is used mostly when it has to be directly mounted to a wall, because it has less stiffness and is less able to carry loads across a brace or an open space. There is also a deep Unistrut channel 2 7/16 inches tall and 1 5/8 inch wide. Multiple variations are available and they have different patterns of holes dedicated to mounting on supports or to walls. The solid Unistrut channel does not have predrilled holes. It has to be drilled on site or another way of mounting has to be found. Punched channel is provided with round holes, made for 5/8 inch threaded steel rod or bolts. They are punched at regular 1 7/8 inch centers, in the top of the channel. Half-slot channels have short, rectangular slots punched out on 2 inch centers.
